Garveso - Way of the Shadow # 003

( DUBSTEP / GRIME )

For this latest installment of our new exclusive mix series, 'Way of the Shadow' I called upon my old friend Garveso to blow everything up - musically speaking. He did it, and he made it sound oh so nice. Maybe a little back story is in order for those who don't know...

When I first starting going to parties and playing with turntables, over a decade ago now, there were a few people who I was close crew with... Big Worm, Garveso, and Niff were three who were especially into hitting cuts and mixing and collecting records. After Big Worm sparked it all by being the first with tables and records, riding the wave of heavy turntablist inspired scratching and raggae and jump up jungle, we all followed suit, eventually all equipping ourselves with decks and vinyl. Big Worm was always a heavy showman, mixing cuts and rude selections with juggles and on point mixing. Garveso killed mixes and had an uncanny abililty to select the exact tracks needed, rinsing out with insane precision and vision, with sets that would have the whole party up in arms in no time. He had a strong sensibility about what to play, how to play it, how to push the energy up, and how to do it proper. Niff was a DJ partner of mine for a long time and was also a deadly on the one's and two's, with insanely technical skills with scratching and tight mixing. As the other one who was more hip hop focused we used to do 2x4 sets and sessions. Garv and Worm were more into jungle and drum and bass, although we all played both hip hop and drum and bass.

Times have changed, cities are different, people grow apart. It is a normal thing. However, upon reconnecting with Garveso recently I can only say that for him things have improved. Aside from some personal milestones he has achieved (which have no bearing on his music and therefore do not have to be put down here) he has made some extraordinary progress in his DJing, moving (naturally) into dubstep and other forms of bass music. The outcome is some great production and, for your pleasure, this featured mix. All I can say is he murdered it, and if you listen to dubstep download this mix and enjoy as he navigates through some classic tracks, some new heat, and some low key refixes and exclusive shit.

Don't forget to check for his productions too. Here's one for yah.

Flux Pavillion - Vocillate (Garveso Remix)

Big respect and thanks to Garveso for coming through right proper with this mix. You killed it bruv! Way of the Shadow continues on. Expect more and more heat as we progress and move forward.
