We On Some Rich Kidd Shit Vol. 4
( RAP / HIP HOP )
Some people say Canadian rap is dated, or stale, or too left field, or just too, well, Canadian. To them I say, shut up and sit down. Time to open your mind. Canadian rap is a huge beast with many backs, many faces, and a plethora of limbs. It manifests itself in a whole shwack of different emcees, producers, djs, and the like. The usual riff raff.
One of those manifestations is the producer/emcee dynamo who has been pulling attention from a whole bunch of different camps. Hailing from "the home of the Raptors," Rich Kidd is hands down one of my favorite cats doing this rap thing right now, let alone from Canada. (Side note - today I found a vinyl copy of the classic Canadian rap album Cash Crop - it was cheap, I was happy.) His beats run a wide range of styles, tempos, and vibes, always bangin and always crisp, and as a rapper he has a solid style and voice. Very very good.
Featured today is the fourth installment in his We On Some Rich Kidd Shit series of releases, featuring his own work in addition to songs he's been featured on or produced for a whole lotta dope rappers and singers. This tape has been a daily listen pretty much since I got it, so I thought it appropriate to share with you. Check it out, and if you are into it, check this link here for volumes one through three.
Get Rich.
