Music for the Afterlife
(HIP HOP)
The passing of Nujabes (new-jah-behz) was something that we didn't cover properly on here. Back on March 17th, this stand-out member of the hip hop community was lost forever in a crash on the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway. He is survived by the record store and label he started, Tribe and Hyde-Out productions respectively, and a vast catalog of mood music for the people.
Nujabes was very much a 'Shadow Shogun' himself, perhaps the very best example of the smooth jazzy sound that characterizes Japans progression into the limelight of the hip hop world, yet still something of an enigma who would rarely draw attention to himself or conduct interviews. Today I've found links to two of his albums and another compilation he was in with similar artists. If you enjoyed the Saudade# compilation, this is more of the same kind of thing. Nujabes made music that dripped with soul and emotion, usually bearing a reflective and melancholic tone for the listener. We hope you enjoy the music of the martyr. Download, listen, love...
Nujabes - Mellow Beats, Friends, & Lovers (Compilation)
Nujabes - Hydeout Productions First Collection
Nujabes - Metaphorical Music
*IMPORTANT NOTE* - I just found these on mediafire, and not on another blog this time. If anyone takes exception to our sharing the links, please contact us at the e-mail on the right side of the screen. Thanks.
RIP Nujabes.
