Mix + Mix + Mix

Been a minute since we have seen the ol' tape pack picture. Time for three nice mixes that I have been feeling, selecting only the best to share with you all. More raps today than not, but new bass mixes will be up soon. For now, enjoy these.

Tightface - Treasures of the Five Boroughs

( RAP / HIP HOP )

TightFace - Treasures Of The Five Boroughs by alexchase

Constructed through snatches of conversation from residents and guides to the various landmark New York districts, laced with a sloppy but hypnotically dope head knockin beats, remixed classic raps from New York giants and ghosts of rap, and insanely fuzzy analog stylings, this shit is a solid listen. Nostalgic and new, classic raps revisited with new true school beats - and most of the time they work in a real way. In some cases, not so well, but there are so many gems on here it makes it worth the full ride. This is a proper way to get back into elements of New York and feel that very personal connection that so many heads (myself included) had for the mecca of hip hop that is tapped into on this release. The twist? Tightface is from South London. It just goes to show that the effect of hip hop has reached out and embraced the world - and in many forms and stylings, the world has returned its love, and will continue to do so as the music of a city captures listening ears, and inquiring minds.

Freeza Chin - Channel One Grime Mix

( GRIME / BASS )

Straight up rude bidness. Runs through a variety of dirty bass versions, tracks, and riddims - some featuring grime rappers and some featuring nothing but heavy bass and drums. Proper. Not for those who don't like hard beats or grime raps. Freeza Chin reps Toronto, and this mix is one of a many from the wicked Channel One which will now be in the links to the right. Here is their original post for this mix. Check it for frequently mixes in a variety of forms.

Has Lo - Antelopes + Lions

( HIP HOP )

Heat raps. New voice from Has Lo, a member of super collective Mello Music Group, on a five part mixtape hosted by DJ Sonny James. Shit is super hot for anyone who feels good raps. Classic but updated, you know how we like it around here. And Has Lo comes correct. Check for this emcee with no doubt, he is the real deal, super slcik and talented. This mix serves as an introduction for those who might not be familiar, as he drops an album at the end of the month, so get to knowin. Heat.
