Are You Listening? Mixtape - DJ Burn One
( HIP HOP / RAP )
DJ Burn One has a trademark smoked out soundstamp that pops up a lot when I put my shitty iPod on shuffle, but it's a good thing. Really it is. Burn One has a good ear for good rap. He hosted/mixed the Yelawolf release a couple posts below and he'll be in an upcoming post as well. For now, get your fill with this variety pack of really good rap music, spanning and incorporating the west coast Vancouver sounds of Evil, the down south early Outkast-esque stylings of Aleon Craft, or maybe the RZA feature on a remix/mash up with The Kickdrums. Sound good? Some Chicarones, maybe? A lil Sapient? The awesome Intuition track 'Al Bundy'? You will find something in here you like; more likely, you'll find quite a bit.

It's A 1derful Life - Buff1 - Hosted by DJ Rhettmatic
( HIP HOP / RAP )
Yes, yes, this is not cutting edge - the tape has been out for a minute... But in some recent restructuring of my library I found it and I thought it proper to share. Dope rap. Dope beats. What else do you need to know? More? Well, he's supposed to be touring with Mayer Hawthorne and he's dropping an album with Rhettmatic. Besides this tape. He's kind of dope. Freals.
Oh yeah, he was a member of the Athletic Mic League. Acumen will appreciate that.

Mike Murder - Goin Nowhere
( HIP HOP / RAP )
A slice of Vancouver rap. From Big Moves and the beasts over at the Living Underwater blog came a link to a 2004 album from Mike Murder, with Aalo Guha on the beats for most of it and a slew of feature emcees and DJs. Dirty rugged and heavily skilled shit here. Representing the imaginations treetrunk crew and likely POS and low pressure also. Dope dope dope.
