Ay[r]e[s], there's The Rub
(FUNK'N'GROOVES)
Welcome to the first day of the second month of the tenth year of the twenty-first century as time is recorded in the Western World.
Now, I note the day, because that time of the year in Calgary is generally pretty damn cold, whether or not we happen to have a lovely chinook rolling through right now, and this mix is clearly made for some warm summer cruising. The firstborn in the clan that Meta and I sprung from put me on to this mix from DJ Ayres, who holds it down for The Rub in New York, which is also represented by such prestigious names as Cosmo Baker and DJ Eleven (the lad from New York, not the lass from Calgary).
It's a mix that's chalk-full of some funky-ass soul music, sprinkled with a dash of hip hop, and topped off with some fat breaks, ultimately ending up as the mix that I'm officially dubbing as my first feel-good soundtrack of the new decade.
Download, listen, love...
