It's gonna be wild Hallows Eve in Calgary this year, full of ghastly ghosts and spooky spirits, but the spirit thats gonna haunt the hardest is the one and only Caspa.
October 31st at What About Bobs is a big night, tickets are 40 bucks and they'll disappear fast, because all the Dubstep soldiers out there have it circled on their calendar. Check the Facebook Event for all the details, but they got a roster of DJ's from all over and MC Rod Azlan who absolutely wrecked shit when Rusko came to town last year.
For the local openers, we got 'Piranha Piranha' aka Mr. Geography and Dan Solo who hold down Calgary's premier electronic record store Giant 45, and, of course, the 'Supreme Hustle' aka Slim Pickins and Mark Instinct, whose hands you have to shake if you go, because I'm pretty sure every dope Dubstep or Drum'n'Bass show in the last 2 years was made possible by their hard work booking, planning, promoting, and usually even opening. And stay tuned on this blog because we got some material from them coming through in the next week or so.
Back to Caspa though, theres a good writeup on him on the Facebook page, but pretty much he's the wrecker. You've no doubt heard his Wheres My Money remix somewhere as it's the most recognizable and most played track in Dubstep around these parts, his Fabriclive 37 mix with Rusko is the mix that got me and countless others into the genre and their inclusion in the Fabriclive series was a benchmark moment for Dubstep - a kinda 'We Made It!' moment if you will. His label Dub Police employs the heaviest of hitters and the roster includes such names as N-Type, L-Wiz, Emalkay, Unitz, Tes La Rok, The Others, Kromestar, Rusko, and, of course, Caspa himself.
So buy yourself a ticket NOW! I don't exagerrate when I say that I'm anticipating this to be the best dubstep show Calgary's seen considering the performers, the stage, and the evening it falls on.
Heres some of his bigger tracks:
TC - Wheres My Money? (Caspa Remix)
Caspa - Cockney Violin
Deadmau5 and Kaskade - I Remember (Caspa Remix)
Caspa and Rusko - Bread Get Bun
and ya knew I was gonna put ya through to some mixes
Heres a quick little exclusive mix he did for Get Darker
And Slim Pickins just put me onto this one promoting the show, its massive, the Caspa Radio One Essential Mix.
