You know what one of the best things ever is? When the hottest girl on the dancefloor is the one behind the decks, she's a classic British Columbian beauty, she's got that sick b-girl style, and she happens to be killing it on the reggae jungle tip. It's kinda the Shadow Shogun male fantasy. B-Traits, keep doing your thing, we appreciate it.
However, we're also sympathetic to the feminist sentiment on this blog, and we don't want to judge a DJ on her looks alone. So to those equal rights activists who call her legitimacy into question, I'll respond that when you're the only (digital sound) girl on the Digital Soundboy record label, that one that was founded by the original nuttah Shy FX, that one that boasts a roster with such names such as Benny Page, Breakage, and Marcus Visionary, that should mean something, no? Still, they might say she's just the token blonde beauty of the crew, and I'll tell them I've seen her live once and she slays it. They might still wanna get uppity and deny it if they're real difficult, and I might just have proof positive of her skills with 2 turntables and a mixer.
Today we got a mix the Nelson temptress recorded over the summer that was meant to showcase the talents of her labelmates on Digital Soundboy. She gets it started on the dubstep tip before kicking it up into high gear with the reggae and jump-up drum'n'bass that she's so familiar with. She manages to sock 66 tracks into a 60 minute roller-coaster of a mix that moves at such a breakneck pace you won't have a chance for boredom. Schoolboy crushes aside, this is one of the higher quality mixes I've heard all summer. Download, listen, love...
