What we are entering into here in Calgary is my favorite time of the year. Shorts and shades go on, the city gets colorful and vibrant, the weather gets warmer, the days get longer and the nights get doper. As my good friends running things at Light and Soul would say, it's a time of good vibes.
The mix I got today sounds like I feel at the prospect of such renewal and rebirth. It also has an element of reflecting back to a certain beginning within my long musical journey. The first dubstep track that I ever fell in love with is 'Girl From Codeine City' by L-Wiz, one of the standout tracks from the first dubstep mix I ever had on my iPod - Fabriclive 37 by Caspa and Rusko. For those who don't know, L-Wiz holds it down every Sunday morning on Sub.FM (10-12 Mountain time) with the best morning-time vibe dubstep that you'll ever hear (which is funny considering it plays from 5-7 out in the UK, I guess it's good 'wind-down-after-work' music too). They (it's a 2-man show) are also part of the illustrious 'Dub Police' roster.
In this mix, L-Wiz mix their self-produced tracks with one of the duo (Claes Rosen) playing the keys on top throughout. It is very, very dope. They did it for the Fenchurch site, so I will pressure you to go and check out the site right here. Poke around a bit, they got some cool shite going on in there.
