A little while back, the homie Teekay of the true school crew Dragon Fli Empire dropped his long awaited solo debut. Already drenched in the soulful and jazzy mindstate established with his DJ, the one and only Cosm, Teekay takes off on his own voyage on this sweet little treat. Entirely self-produced and featuring some nice banging boom bap beats (and raps, of course) coming straight out of CGY. Don't sleep on this one folks. Some real smooth vibes here. Speaking of dope Calgary hip hop, Cinister Cee also recently dropped a lovely piece of honey filled moments in the form of various sickeningly well realized beats. This album has been anticipated for some time, marking a return to the public ear after (has it been?) five years - his last album, 'Cinstrumentals', was also quite awesome. More than just a golden ear, he has the ability to create a powerful vibe with his sample choices and executions, often very melancholy but encompassing many emotions and styles.
